About Me

Hello, my name is Sophia Lloyd and I’m passionate about helping families lay the foundation for healthy, happy children - starting with what’s on their plates! As someone who specialises in child nutrition, I am dedicated to guiding parents through the often confusing world of childhood nutrition, with a focus on creating healthy, lasting habits for young children.

Before becoming a nutritionist, I earned my diploma in early years education, driven by a passion for helping children develop educationally, physically, emotionally, and mentally. I started my career in childcare, gaining a deep understanding of every aspect of a child’s routine and life. This experience allowed me to see how nutrition plays a crucial role in a child's overall development, which inspired me to specialise in child nutrition. I have also worked as a private nanny in family homes, this practical experience giving me a firsthand understanding of how family routines function and the challenges parents face when trying to ensure their children eat a healthy and nutritious diet. I know how difficult it can be to balance busy schedules whilst making sure your little ones are getting the nutrition they need - this is where I come in.

Whilst working in childcare, caring for various children—primarily aged 6 months to 4 years—I began researching how food impacted their behaviour, sleep, and ability to learn and grow. This is, of course, the stage in which a child's brain undergoes its most rapid development, forming crucial neural connections that lay the foundation for their future cognitive, emotional and physical well-being. These early years are shaped by more than just what children see and learn; I started to recognise that external factors, such as nutrition and sleep, played a significant role in their ability to process information, regulate emotions and engage with the world around them. Over time, it became increasingly clear that food was not just a source of energy, but a key contributor to their overall development. The right balance of nutrients directly influenced their concentration, mood and ability to form healthy habits, ultimately shaping their long-term health, learning potential, and quality of life. From that moment on, I became deeply invested in understanding the impact of nutrition on young children's development. I spent my free time diving into research papers, books and articles - absorbing everything I could find about early childhood nutrition and dietary habits. The more I learned, the more passionate I became. Realising that I wanted to do more than just work in early years education, I wanted to make a real difference in children's health and well-being. This led me to pursue formal training as a child nutrition advisor, and now, here I am today, dedicated to helping families nourish their children for a healthier future.

Beyond my professional life, I’m also on my own personal wellness journey. After reading Dr. Chris Van Tulleken's book 'Ultra-Processed People', I try my best to eat a whole food diet where possible, cut out ultra-processed foods and make sure my body gets the nutrients it needs naturally. Reading that book opened my eyes to the bad, harmful and completely unnecessary ingredients people put into their bodies on a daily basis, and now frequently give to their children too. I highly recommend that if you wish to start on a similar journey, for the sake of your children's health and for your own, that you also read this. My focus is on nourishing my body with the right vitamins and minerals as naturally as possible and I bring this same philosophy to the advice I give to my clients. I know that what we eat has the power to impact how we feel, both physically and mentally, and I aim to help families make healthy choices that benefit everyone.

My purpose is to help you nurture healthy habits that will benefit your children now and for the rest of their lives.
